New Hampshire License Renewal Requirements
NH CE Provider #500029589
In New Hampshire, resident insurance producers must complete continuing education (CE) to maintain their licenses. The key requirements are:
Credit Hours
Producers must complete 24 CE credit hours every two years, including at least 3 credit hours in ethics. No more than 10 credit hours can be in ethics. Courses must be approved by the New Hampshire Insurance Department and should be relevant to the producer’s license type.
License Term
The license term concludes on the last day of the producer’s birth month every two years. All CE credits must be completed 60 days prior to the license expiration date to avoid penalties. It’s important to complete all CE credits before submitting a license renewal application.
Course Repetition
A course cannot be taken more than once within a two-year license term. Credit from courses repeated within the cycle will only be awarded once towards your requirement.
Carryover Credits
Excess CE credit hours may not be carried over to the next two-year license term.
Special Training Requirements:
Annuity Training
Producers must complete a one-time, state-approved 4-hour Annuity Best Interest course before selling or soliciting any annuity products.
Long-Term Care (LTC) Training
Before selling or soliciting long-term care insurance, producers must complete an 8-hour initial LTC training course. Additionally, a 4-hour ongoing training course is required every two-year license term following the initial training.
Flood Insurance Training
Producers who sell National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policies must complete a one-time 3-hour course on flood insurance.
Non-Resident Producers
Non-resident producers who have fulfilled CE requirements in their home state are generally considered compliant with New Hampshire’s CE requirements. However, non-resident public adjusters without a continuing education requirement in their resident state must complete 15 credit hours, including 3 ethics credit hours, of New Hampshire-approved continuing education.
License Renewal Eligibility
Licenses are eligible for renewal subject to:
- The renewal fee of $150 for any number of major lines licenses.
- Licenses can be renewed within 60 days prior to the expiration date.
- All CE requirements must be completed before submitting a renewal application and during the preceding 24 months, no later than 60 days prior to the required renewal date.
